JOB SUMMARY

For patients undergoing radiation therapy, provide individualized nutrition assessments, counseling and nutrition recommendations based on the patients’ specific therapies and nutritional needs, collaborate with other health profession Provide nutritional consultation to cancer patients under the care of the radiation oncologist educating patients on making nutritional and healthy lifestyle changes. Implement nutrition screening system for cancer patients as appropriate and develop nutrition education and resource materials as needed, in-services for staff addressing nutrition tops and research pertinent to cancer patients, attend education programs to maintain status as effective and knowledgeable resources regarding patients’ nutrition needs.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and experience: Registered Dietitian Oncology experience and CDE certification preferred. Position is one day a week.
Knowledge: Solid knowledge of clinical nutrition with emphasis on nutrition needs for cancer patients.
Skills: Requires excellent verbal communications skills to interact with patients, families, and groups including the oncology team. Requires the ability use a wide variety of computer programs.
Abilities: Requires the ability to teach individuals of all age groups and work in partnership with the health-care team and community resources to provide continuity of nutrition services for patient and their care providers.
