Job Summary

Serving as a member of the Principal Gifts Team and a senior member of the Foundation development team, directs and manages the needs of the Spectrum Health Foundation at Ludington and Gerber. Works with Regional Market Leader and Foundation Board to achieve fundraising objectives. Responsibilities include development of an overall annual strategic plan for his/her donor portfolio. Management of boards and board engagement. Participates in annual and strategic planning for the Principal Gifts Division. Cultivates, solicits, and stewards his/her own portfolio of individuals and corporate donors. Facilitates major campaign plans and objectives to advance strategic health care initiatives of Spectrum Health as assigned. Works with Foundation staff on key events to ensure successful implementation. Collaborates with Foundation staff on donor relations activities.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as the Foundation Liaison for Ludington and Gerber Hospitals.
  • In collaboration with the President-SHF, Regional Market Leader and Foundation Committee, identifies appropriate fundraising opportunities and creates donor proposals.
  • Manages and executes Regional Foundation Board meetings.
  • Identifies and assists in recruiting appropriate community leaders to participate on the Regional Foundation Board.
  • Maintains and manages a portfolio of prospects/donors and ensures the appropriate quality and quantity of contacts pursuant to developed strategies, in accordance with Foundation performance expectations. Effort focused direct prospect/donor contact in qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Solicit gift commitments through personal contact, telephone, direct mail, and other means.
  • Creates plans for each donor in his/her portfolio and documents steps and opportunities for each one.
  • Ensure that stewardship is incorporated into strategic decisions and assist in the implementation of stewardship activities to achieve a long-term exceptional donor experience.
  • Provides input and assistance as needed for key fundraising events, direct mail appeals, and stewardship reports.
  • Works collaboratively with foundation colleagues, specifically: grants, communication and marketing, design, events, and operations, to deliver quality foundation services to NW market (impact reports, local grant opportunities, local events, fund distribution process, reports, etc.).
  • Populates and assembles foundation sub-committees as warranted to support special events, volunteer efforts, capital campaigns, or other key efforts.
  • In collaboration with RML, executive team, and marketing, supports community and stakeholder engagement events that foster relationship building, trust, and affinity for SH.
  • Supports the fiduciary oversight of fund utilization for the NW market acting as the direct liaison between clinical service line leaders and foundation.
  • Supports regional scholarship operations from communication, administration, marketing, and overall project management.
  • Manages and implements annual giving strategies across multiple regional locations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, in philanthropy, communications, marketing, business or related field, Required
  • Master's Degree, Preferred
  • 10 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities in fund development or related field, Required
