The Senior Credentialing Specialist for the SOM Department of Surgery is responsible for a variety of duties, included but not limited to medical credentialing, working with faculty affairs in processing, academically ranking and appointment of faculty, and processing all international visas within the Department of Surgery. Working with the Department of Surgery Chair, the candidate initiates through completion all aspects of faculty credentialing, clinic and hospital privileges and malpractice insurance for full time clinical faculty, part-time clinical faculty and community volunteers as well as TUMG/Payor enrollment, malpractice (PCF) enrollment, medical licensure, board certification and various forms of clinical privileging. The candidate will ensure all requirements are met to reappoint all volunteer faculty in different locations that educate residents and students. The Specialist is the point person for the Dept of Surgery. The candidate manages the department Personnel and Honors Committee and works closely with the School of Medicine Personnel and Honors Committee for academic rank assignment processes.
