The King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) has a staffing need for an experienced and technically proficient Industrial Instrument Technician.
The Industrial Instrument Technician will be responsible for performing the day-to-day operation of instrumentation and control systems at a wastewater collection and treatment facility, including pumping and regulating stations. Performing a variety of highly skilled technical journey-level duties to design, construct, maintain, troubleshoot and modify computerized systems, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and related instrumentation maintaining a wide variety of equipment and conducting preventive maintenance programs. These positions require the use of analytical skills in implementing various aspects of process control. Working as a journey-level instrument technician, independently or cooperatively with other instrument technicians, other skilled trades and industrial plant operations staff. To work safely in an industrial setting using appropriate PPE, using proper Lock- Out Tag-Out procedures around electrical, mechanical, and environmental hazards, including working in Permit-Required Confined Spaces. Ability to work in emergency situations and be a part of an on-call standby rotation.
This Special Duty Assignment (SDA)/Term Limited Temporary (TLT) position may be filled for up to two years.
The work associated with this position will primarily be performed onsite; this is not a telework position. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. WORK SCHEDULE: This position works a 4 day/10 hours per day schedule. Candidates must be available to work any assigned schedule. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
