Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. 
Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday 
Supervision Received: The Assistant Field Education Director receives general supervision from the Field Education Director.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Salary: $50,000-$59,000 (To commensurate with education and experience) 

General Statement of Duties: As a member of the field education team, the Assistant Field Education Director will develop and maintain field sites which include rural/underserved areas, and integrated behavioral health/primary care settings.  The Assistant Director will also support the field placement work and related activities of the Interdisciplinary Behavioral Health Collaboration (IBHC) Project and the Worcester, MA, Master of Social Work Program. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Work with the Field Education Director in developing and maintaining field sites which include rural/underserved areas and in integrated behavioral health/primary care settings.
  • Aid in the field placement application process for BSW & MSW students as assigned.
  • Place assigned BSW & MSW students in appropriate field sites.
  • Participate in the field education portion of student orientations, including for HRSA grant recipients as assigned.
  • Participate as a staff member in the annual field instructor orientation training, including co-facilitation as requested.
  • Maintain the information contained in the department's web-based field documentation system and provide assistance to students, field instructors, and faculty as needed.
  • Monitor assigned field placements and communicate with the Field Education Director regarding any potential disruptions.
  • Provide assistance to the Field Education Director in the development of field-related policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a member of the Field Advisory Committee and the Department Committee.
  • As assigned, serve as a member of IBHC Advisory Committee, BSW Committee, MSW Committee, and other department committees.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's in Social Work degree and possess a MA license to practice social work (or be license eligible in MA), and have minimum of 2 years post master's experience.   
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, organizational, computer skills, and a valid driver's license. 
  • Previous experience with coordination of field placements and knowledge of area social services organizations.

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.
