We are looking for a full-time Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician for our quality control laboratory in New Orleans.  Candidates must be licensed in Louisiana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist – (CLS) Generalist or a Clinical Laboratory Technician – CLT or MLT (ASCP).  Preferably, applicants would also have experience in blood banking, microbiology and/or hematology.

POSITION TITLE: Component QC Medical Laboratory Technician

 

DEPARTMENT:  Component QC Lab

 
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Component QC Lab Supervisor

POSITION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE
 
Performing routine testing and all component quality control testing for products collected and manufactured by TBC and tracking monthly QC for all automated collection instruments for Donor Services. The hours for this position are: Monday-Friday 10:00am-6:30pm or 7:30am-4:30pm, rotating holidays and weekends.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Licenses: MLT (ASCP) (or equivalent) and a LA CLT license
 
Education: AS in Medical Technology or AS in Science with appropriate certificate, MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
 
Experience: 1-2 years of experience, preferably in blood banking, microbiology and/or hematology
 
Specific Skills: Must have blood bank knowledge and have the ability to recognize and resolve discrepant results in testing
