The School of Nursing, Continuing Nursing Education, has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Lead Nurse Planner.

Reporting to the Director of Continuing Nursing Education, primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•Serve as the Lead Nurse Planner and provide overall leadership in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the CNE specialty programs: Medical-Surgical Nursing Education Program (MSEP), the Wound Management Education Program (WMEP), Wound Management Fundamentals Course, and any other specialty program/certification program developed.
•Provide oversight in choosing and then planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Joint Provider (JP) Programs offered by CNE.
•Direct the planning, implementation and evaluation of UWCNE’s Online Programs.
•Serve as one of the UWCNE representatives with authority to assure compliance of all certifying bodies of UWCNE offerings, e.g., the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC), the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse Society (WOCN), Washington State Clock hours, California State certification of CNE, etc.
•Serve as a SON liaison on UWCNE-related issues within the nursing community and other health and social service agencies and providers.
•Supervise the work of key personnel to ensure that appropriate educational design principles are used and processes for educational activities are consistent with the requirements of the ANCC and WOCN Accreditation Programs.
•Participate in general UWCNE operations, special projects and new initiatives.

Duties:

Serve as the Lead Nurse Planner and provide overall leadership in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the CNE specialty programs: Medical-Surgical Nursing Education Program (MSEP), the Wound Management Education Program (WMEP), Wound Management Fundamentals Course, and any other specialty program/certification program developed. 30%
•Ensure that appropriate educational design principles are used and processes are consistent with the requirements of the ANCC Primary Accreditation Program for each program.
•Provide leadership in program planning, implementation and evaluation for each specialty program offering.
•Oversee the various steering committees/planning committees developed to run these programs, selecting and developing planners and presenters as needed.
•Serve as the Agency Coordinator for the “Individual CNE Registrant” cohort of MSEP participants and as Course Instructor for the MSEP online course.
•Ensure compliance with WOCN accreditation criteria and prepare for reaccreditation in 2021.
•Design and implement marketing materials (brochures, calendars, web-based announcements) for the Specialty Hybrid Programs.

Provide oversight in choosing and then planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Joint Provider (JP) Programs offered by CNE.

•Evaluate Joint Provided program criteria in the provision of continuing nursing education.
•Ensure that appropriate educational design principles are used and processes are consistent with the requirements of the ANCC Primary Accreditation Program for each program.
•Maintain accountability for resolving issues related to providing UWCNE, including but not limited to potential Conflict of Interest.
•Collaborate with other CNE staff and SON personnel to provide any logistical support for CNE Joint Provided courses as needed.

Direct the planning, implementation and evaluation of UWCNE’s Online Programs.

•Ensure that appropriate educational design principles are used and processes are consistent with the requirements of the ANCC Primary Accreditation Program for each course.
•Monitor for opportunities to expand the CNE online offerings and provide leadership in doing this as appropriate in meeting CNE strategic goals.

Serve as one of the UWCNE representatives with authority to assure compliance of all certifying bodies of UWCNE offerings, e.g., the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC), the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse Society (WOCN), Washington State Clock hours, California State certification of CNE, etc.

•Demonstrate commitment to learner needs by evaluating UWCNE goals in response to data that may include but is not limited to aggregate individual educational activity evaluation results, stakeholder feedback, and learner/customer feedback.
•Provide leadership through direction and guidance given key personnel involved in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating UWCNE activities in compliance with ANCC accreditation criteria.
•Advocate for and utilize available human, material and financial resources to ensure that UWCNE achieves its goals related to quality outcome measures.
•Identify and collaborate with planners and presenters for UWCNE offerings.
•Maintain accountability for resolving issues related to providing UWCNE.
•Participate in orientations about ANCC accreditation criteria conducted by ANCC and by the Provider Unit’s Lead Nurse Planner.
•Consult with the Lead Nurse Planner to ensure that appropriate educational design principles are used and processes are consistent with the requirements of the ANCC.

Serve as a SON liaison on UWCNE-related issues within the nursing community and other health and social service agencies and providers.

•Maintain and foster contact with the broader nursing community to facilitate positive relations with SON and UWCNE.
•Collaborate on CE-related issues with administrators and educators in private, state and federal health care agencies, nonprofit organizations, state and national agencies.
•Represent SON on university-wide committees and groups related to continuing education as requested by the Lead Nurse Planner or Director.
•Monitor other continuing education offerings in the community, analyze trends and make recommendations for new course development and current course improvement.

Participate in general UWCNE operations, special projects, and new initiatives.

•Advise and counsel individual nurses and nursing organizations in the community about continuing nursing education opportunities and requirements as well as about content and objectives of specific UWCNE courses and conferences related to their needs.
•Foster involvement by appropriate members of the nursing community and SON faculty on the UWCNE Advisory Committee and as UWCNE Faculty Coordinators.
•Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Masters of Science Degree or higher in Nursing

Additional Requirements:
•Current and unrestricted license as a registered nurse; will need to acquire and maintain an RN license within the State of Washington.
•Five years of experience as a nurse or health educator in hospitals, clinics, and/or health agencies
•Five years of experience in nursing education, continuing nursing education or hospital in-service education. OR curriculum development in continuing education in an academic nursing environment or other academic health sciences center.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
