HARBORVIEW PHARMACY looking for an outstanding HOURLY PHARMACY TECHNICIAN 1 (ROTATING/VARIABLE SHIFTS) to join our Pharmacy team! The Pharmacy Technician 1 assists the Pharmacist in professional activities and performing assigned tasks. All activities of Pharmacy Technicians are performed under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist.  Positions in this class are characterized by the performance of certain routine and repetitive functions, and may engage in preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy-related functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.
  • Package medications in single-unit packages.
  • Restock shelves in the unit dose fill and front counter areas.
  • Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units.
  • Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages.
  • Perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula, under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Perform computer entry of prescriptions and charge/credit data.
  • Triage clinical inquiries requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgment.
  • Answer inquiries not requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgment.
  • Know and follow all Pharmacy Department policies and procedures.
  • Work in the IV room and compound IV medications in accordance with USP 797 standards.
  • Handle and prepare hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 standards.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

DESIRED:
  • High school education or GED certificate.
  • Knowledge and experience with sterile intravenous admixture practices preferred.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
REQUIREMENTS: • State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
• Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or equivalent education/experience.
