Would you like to join a team dedicated to delivering high-impact content to students, researchers, and medical and business professionals? As Content Integration Manager, you’ll coach, guide, mentor, and develop the team responsible for loading 5 million journal articles per year to our Discovery and Research products. As part of an Agile team, you’ll lead the content integration engineers who own the end-to-end content lifecycle, from working with publishers, to content extraction, transformation, and loading. This team has a powerful opportunity to improve our end users’ experience with searching, discovering, and consuming the journal articles that meet their needs.

 

You’ll be a thought partner for your team, the leadership team, and business teams across Product Management, Technology, and Publisher Relations. You’ll work hands-on with the engineers, driving execution, removing obstacles, and helping the team relentlessly improve. You’ll contribute excellent communication skills, passion for team engagement, metrics- and data-driven decision making, and systems thinking in a fast-paced environment that thrives on continuous improvement.   

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of Content Integration Engineers, across functions that include publisher outreach, content processing, vendor and partner management, and data transformation.
  • Attract, recruit, develop and retain top talent. Cultivate and groom leaders.
  • Coach for strong collaboration and shared accountability, with a focus on thoughtful, fast, and disciplined execution.
  • Identify and solve cross-functional and inter-team challenges. Build positive, trust-based culture.
  • Coach team on building trust through high-quality, thoughtful, and consistent delivery of projects that vary in complexity and size.
  • Support our partner organization in India and our vendor partners responsible for daily content production.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, information, or publishing, or relevant experience 
  • 3+ years’ experience as a people manager, with strong coaching mindset
  • Superb communication and presentation skills. Proven ability to communicate complex change and motivate others.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills. Track record of supporting growth and development of teams and individuals.  
  • 1 year+ experience interacting with data visualizations to understand and identify trends, draw conclusions and/or answer business questions, and develop recommendations for action plans based on analysis.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and influence.
  • 1+ years of experience with Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an established system while also challenging the status quo.
  • Demonstrated affinity for technology.
  • 1 year+ experience in Agile and Scrum or LEAN/Agile environments. Detailed understanding of Lean approaches and methodologies. 
  • 1 year+ experience working with standard bibliographic data and content formats including but not limited to: XML, PDF, JATS, NLM, HTML, etc.
  • 2+ years of data management experience – includes experience with relational databases, Excel
