Assistant Attorney General Highways & Utilities

The Highways & Utilities Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office has an immediate opening for an attorney to provide general legal assistance and representation to the Department of Public Safety in civil litigation and administrative proceedings. This is a full-time, career service position with benefits. The position is co-located with the client at the Calvin Rampton Building, 4501 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, UT. This position requires a minimum of five years of experience, with some prosecution background preferred. Work will include advising the Peace Officer Standards & Training Council in disciplinary and enforcement actions. Responsibilities include advising and representing DPS executive administration and DPS entities in administrative and judicial venues. This position requires excellent written and oral advocacy skills. Applicants must be able to provide general counsel advice to government agency clients. Knowledge of GRAMA and public ethics law is helpful. Applicants must have the experience and ability to immediately take over an existing caseload. Membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing is required.
