Police Department

Police Officer

The City of Fort Wright is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual for the position of full-time Police Officer. This position will be responsible for the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances and will report directly to the Chief of Police and/or his designee.

The successful candidate must be 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen, free from felony conviction, have a valid KY driver’s license or be capable of attaining one, and have a HS diploma or equivalent at the time of appointment. Applicants must satisfactorily pass all pre-employment requirements in accordance with KRS 15.382, the Peace Officers Professional Standards Act (POPS).

Salary Range (DOQ) is $59,092.00 to $79,472.17, plus occasional overtime, special details, holiday pay, and a $4,300 state hazardous duty incentive upon receipt of POPS Certification. Excellent benefit package provided, which currently includes the following:

Lateral Transfer and Retired Officers eligible for re-employment in accordance with KRS 95.022 are encouraged and eligible to apply. Lateral transfer and retired officers hired under KRS 95.022 are eligible for leave time commensurate with experience. Retired officers hired under KRS 95.022 are also eligible for a “pension waiver” stipend in addition to their base pay.

Firefighter/Paramedic (Part-Time)

The City of Fort Wright is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Firefighter/Paramedic.  All applicants must possess the following credentials:  High School Diploma or Equivalency; A Valid Driver’s License; Current National Registry Paramedic Certification or KY Paramedic Certification; ACLS, CPR, and PALS Certifications; KY 400 HR Certification or Firefighter I and II Certification; CPAT Card (KY Firefighter laterals are exempt).

Starting wage for this position is $25.48 per hour.  Flexible schedule.
