We have an open position for a Full-Time Cashier CSR - Lead in Retail. Primary responsibilities include: Ensure smooth, efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the retail store, including opening and closing; maintain a professional, upbeat work environment by setting a warm, friendly tone in the store, and leading by example to help provide exceptional customer service and satisfaction during any point of the customer experience.
Other essential duties include (but not limited to):
- Assist shoppers on a regular basis, with the goal of exceeding their expectations; make relevant product recommendations; answer questions providing accurate information; work with Retail Manager to resolve customer concerns in a professional, timely manner;
- Coordinate activity on the sales floor when operationally necessary; motivate and lead staff to ensure a cohesive, efficient team, as well as to ensure individual employee success; assist in the thorough training and retraining of staff as required; communicate any operational and staffing concerns to the Retail Manager;
- Help with merchandising and inventory management, and monthly physical inventory, stock and replenish store displays; assist in daily sample and stock rotations; receive and verify transfer of products;
- Perform basic computer procedures for daily Point-Of-Sale (POS) opening and closing procedures; guide cashiers to process returns/exchanges and cashier change-order requests.
Physical requirements include (but not limited to):
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bending, lifting and stretching, while stocking, including ability to climb a stockroom ladder;
- Frequent standing and walking during the shift duration.
Hilo Store hours are: Sunday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (While subject to change, based on operational needs, this is primarily an ideal day-shift-only position—no night shift*, unlike some retailers that often stay open through the evening, resulting in employees having to work a night shift.) Must be available to start before, and stay after, normal store hours for opening and closing procedures respectively. *Extended hours during monthly inventory, and peak seasons throughout the year, for example, November and December.

Essential duties include:
- Demonstrate knowledge of Big Island Candies’ Safety, Quality, and Reliability Procedures;
- Uphold Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards;
- Maintain cleanliness within the work area;
- Help to coordinate efficient product(s) movement within department areas;
- Apply adhesive labels to bags and boxes;
- Fill bags, boxes or tins with cookies, chocolates or other confections;
- Check and ensure proper weight of products using scale;
- Heat-seal bags, and fold;
- Pack individual bags into cases;
- Ability to operate packaging equipment (training provided);
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work independently or with a team; able to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
- Ability to communicate and share information with peers and diverse groups of customers;
- Honest, hardworking and caring;
- Responsible, energetic and detail-oriented;

Work hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Weekends and overtime may be required during peak/seasonal periods and depending on operational needs.

Big Island Candies is seeking a sanitation specialist (night shift) to perform important tasks, ensuring the highest level of sanitation throughout the facilities, following current Good Manufacturing Practices and upholding our Quality standards.
Essential duties include:
- Clean and sanitize food manufacturing production.
- Other cleaning, sanitizing, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming and dusting tasks, plus other related duties.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Willing and able to follow:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
- Daily Master Cleaning Schedule protocols;
- Proper and safe use of cleaners and equipment;
- Use of personal protective equipment;
- Demonstrate safe work practices and conditions;
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Work cooperatively with other employees.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Hours: Full-time up to 40 hours per week: Monday – Friday 4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.; subject to operational changes including weekend, plus possible holiday hours and overtime.
