Job Type: Full-Time Permanent 
Timeframe: 52 weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. May be required to work evenings/weekends for events.
Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Supervision Received: The Early College Access Advisor reports directly to the Assistant Director, Early College Access Programs.
Supervision Exercised: Graduate Assistants and/or work-study students, as assigned.
Salary: $50,000-$53,000 Salary to commensurate with education and experience 

General Statement of Duties: The Early College Access Advisor assists the Assistant Director in all Early College High School access programming for Westfield State University; is responsible for the development of student success activities, and strategic recruitment through the Westfield Promise/Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership Program (CDEP), and early college designation activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all Dual Enrollment prospects and parents/guardians of early college or dual enrollment students.
  • Assist in all activities pertaining to the development and sustainability of relationships with all participating districts in Westfield Promise and Dual Enrollment initiatives.
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Early College Access Programs in planning and implementing the two-year Westfield Promise program according to each district's individualized program description.
  • Assist in the coordination with university staff to provide new dual enrollment student orientation, campus visits, or college readiness/exploration activities for each participating district, as needed.
  • Work with faculty and school guidance counselors to ensure student success throughout each semester while enrolled in remote or on-campus courses.
  • Advise students and school district contacts on dual enrollment course selection.
  • Assist in grant writing and research for additional funding sources, if available.
  • Organize and run efficient and effective meetings with students and parents for dual enrollment initiatives.
  • Assist students along a pathway to full enrollment at Westfield State for successful Westfield Promise participants as outlined with undergraduate admissions.
  • Provide additional support as required by CDEP regulations and policies.
  • Assist with professional development opportunities for local districts as needed.
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Non-Essential:

  • Serve as liaison to other campus departments and committees as needed.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred 
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including extensive knowledge of Ellucian Banner or other higher education data software systems.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and public presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend hours, as needed.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.


Additional Information:

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.
