The Project Planning and Delivery Section is looking for forward thinking, detailed-oriented Procurement and Project Delivery Specialists to join our team of 200+ professionals that are responsible for delivering the capital program at the King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD). These positions will not be directly procuring contracts as King County utilizes a central procurement section (Procurements and Payables) that is responsible for the direct procurement of all County contracts.
However, these positions will serve as subject matter experts in the development of project delivery and contracting strategies in addition to supporting project managers by managing the County central procurement process of the various contract types (consultant, technical, construction, and purchase) needed to support the WTD capital program. Additionally, these positions will advise and serve as the WTD subject matter experts in the use of alternative project delivery methods such as, Design-Build (DB) and/or General Contractor/Construction Manager (GCCM).
We are looking for individuals who know contract and project delivery types available to public agencies in the State of Washington as well a someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, is creative, adaptive, has a sense of humor, and enjoys finding solutions to business challenges in a large public capital program.
Duration: This Special Duty Assignment or Term Limited Temporary is approved from 10/04/2021 through 10/03/2024.
About the Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD): WTD protects water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high quality treatment to wastewater collected from local sewer agencies. Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed remotely on a full time basis. Employees will also have access to shared workspaces at King Street Center at 201 S. Jackson Street in downtown Seattle. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.

Work Schedule: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
