The Laboratory Safety Manager supervises Laboratory Safety Officers and EHS Specialists and manages health and safety compliance programs and activities at Tulane University pertaining to research laboratories and medical school anatomy lab and academic labs on all Tulane campuses in New Orleans, Belle Chasse, and Covington. Helps review, plan, and direct budget for the EHS Compliance Program. Develops and updates EHS programs, policies, and procedures. Acts as the IACUC liaison for OEHS. Manages the destruction of controlled substances. Schedules and directs all lab safety audits for the 850+ laboratory spaces spread out through Tulane campuses. Provides training and guidance on safety issues. Performs duties relative to animal care/research safety. Serves as a liaison for regulatory agencies, insurance companies, outside agency inspectors, etc. Participates in OEHS On-Call and Emergency Response Program. Assists other OEHS personnel in other areas and on other campuses as needed. This position is considered essential for certain campus emergencies and is expected to remain in campus allocated locations when called upon to do so.
