GENERAL INFORMATION: Bevill State Community College is an accredited, learning-centered institution dedicated to student success by providing quality educational and training opportunities that enrich lives intellectually, economically, and culturally.


QUALIFICATIONS: From a regionally-accredited college or university, the Project Coordinator will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, administration, or a field directly related to the academic, career, or personal counseling goals of the Upward Bound Program. A minimum of three years’ experience working with rural, disadvantaged, or academically challenged youth is preferred. Preference is given to candidates with experience in Federal Programs; significant experience in counseling or teaching secondary school students; and/or a background similar to those confronting the target population.


SALARY RANGE: Minimum $39,352 -maximum $60,104 based on experience and educational level for placement on the Bevill State Community College Salary C3-05.


BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist the director in the supervision and coordination of the total activities of the Upward Bound Program.


DUTIES: In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State Community College Personnel Handbook, the President of Bevill State, Vice President of Instruction and Student Services and the other Executive Leadership Team members, and the ACCS Board of Trustees, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Assist with the identification and selection of project participants.
2. Schedule and coordinate monthly seminars surrounding topics such as: ethics, career exploration, financial literacy, financial aid, technology, etc. as required.
3. Coordinate college entrance examination testing preparation for all participants.
4. Monitor progress of all participants toward achievement of academic and personal goals.
5. Prepare reports, and disseminate information to participants, project staff, college administrators, faculty, staff, and the community.
6. Plan cultural and educational trips for participants during each semester.
7. Create flyers and newsletters to notify participants and their parents of upcoming events.
8. Assist Project Director with monitoring project budget and fiscal records.
9. Conduct school visits to review academic progress, performance, personal concerns and any other relevant issues.
10. Maintain weekly contact with on-site coordinators and tutors to identify any potential concerns with participants.
11. Coordinate academic, vocational, and other assessments for participants.
12. Assist with the submission of the Annual Performance Report.
13. Collect monthly student information from on-site coordinators and tutors.
14. Collect participant information from target schools to monitor progress and assist in documenting participant progress for the Annual Performance Report (transcripts, GPA, etc.)
15. Monitor participant attendance and progress during Summer Bridge and Component.
16. Maintain strict confidentiality of participant personally identifying information and project records.
17. Conduct data analysis on college entrance examination results to identify areas of opportunity for participant improvement.
18. Perform other duties as needed to support and facilitate the functions of the Upward Bound Program.
19. Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Grants, the Vice President of Instructional and Student Services, the College President, and personnel from the U.S. Department of Education.
