Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time – Non-exempt

Reports To: The Payroll Specialist will report to The Human Resources Manager

Pay Range: $41,000.00 – 48,000.00

Essential Job Functions

Processes payroll, receives employee payroll changes, and provides routine human resources information to one or more work units in order to ensure timely and accurate payroll transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and assists with work unit operational policy development.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares, organizes, disseminates, and processes payroll resources, communications, and materials for one or more work units through various mediums under general supervision
  • Prepares and audits standard work unit payrolls, and completes payroll transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipates deadlines
  • Receives, responds to, and resolves employee payroll questions and problems
  • Counsels new, existing, and terminating employees on payroll options, timelines, taxes, and deductions
  • Represents unit/program at institutional payroll workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
  • Troubleshoots issues and provides recommendations for resolution
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, or the equivalent
  2. Two years of prior payroll/HR experience

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
