- Every Monday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

- Every Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job Summary

Operates positron emissions tomography / computerized tomography (PET/CT) imaging equipment and injector and prepares radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging studies to produce images for the interpretation by, and at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Completes work in independent, professional manner with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

  • With the aid of the technologist 2 or lead technologist, operates PET/CT imaging equipment, contrast injector and computer processing equipment for PET/CT studies by following professional, hospital and regulatory protocols to provide physicians with diagnostic images utilized to identify and / or plan appropriate patient treatment.
  • Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures for intravenous (IV) injection of agents to ensure accurate diagnostic testing and/or imaging. Performs glucose monitoring of patient prior to injection of isotope. Monitors and records radiation levels in hot lab, scan room, storage areas and patient rooms. Adheres to standards for radiation safety and for appropriate waste separation and disposal of radioactive agents by performing specific governmental mandates.
  • Maintains imaging, hot lab, radiopharmaceuticals and processing equipment by performing periodic quality control tests and checking equipment performance and quality of agents administered in accordance with department standards to ensure patient safety. Completes studies in health care information system and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) according to established guidelines. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assists lead technologist with responsibilities for quality control, radiation safety, American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation, and policy, procedure and form development. Assists scheduler in ensuring patient compliance for testing.
  • Assignments are routine; follows established protocols. Works under close supervision, seeks guidance where needed; requires some instruction on day-to-day work and resolves routine problems.

Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience nuclear medicine required
  • CRT-Nuc Med Technologist (N) - ARRT upon hire required OR
  • CRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB upon hire required AND
  • CRT-Positron Emission Tomography (PET) - NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board 2 years required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC within 90 days required
