Cumberland County Department of Public Health is recruiting for an TEMPORARY School Health Nurses Salary- $24.00 Per Hour Opening Date: Immediately Positions funded through June 9, 2017 Closing Date: Until Filled This is a professional nursing position that provides primary, secondary and rehabilitative care to students in public schools, homes and communities. This nurse practices independently and demonstrates autonomous decision-making skills. The primary purpose is to promote health and prevent disease in the school, home and community. This position serves to manage, consult, develop, execute and evaluate plans that impact student health. Duties include: The employee in this Public Health Nurse position will plan and manage the school health program in the schools assigned including the establishment and the eval- uation component of school health serv- ices policies and procedures; provide as- sessment, planning and evaluation of the health services component of the school health program; provides or arranges for routine health assessments. This employ- ee will assure mandated health related ac- tivities are completed; serve as coordina- tor of the health services program and provide nursing care; provide health edu- cation to students, staff and parents; manage the student health record; serve as liaison between student, parent, school personnel, physicians, hospitals and the Exceptional Children's Program as it re- lates to health issues and student health care plans. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which in- cludes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing ex- perience or Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nurs- ing experience; or an equivalent combi- nation of training and experience.
