Summary

Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, trauma-informed Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician to join its dynamic multidisciplinary primary care team at Public Health Primary Care at Navos.  Our primary care team is embedded in Navos Mental Health and Wellness to provide acute care, chronic disease management, preventive care, family planning, sexual health services, and low-barrier medication treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD) to low-income and marginalized adults in Burien, Washington.  As an integrated primary care practice, Public Health Primary Care at Navos provides additional care coordination for individuals living with serious mental illness who are engaged in care with Navos Mental Health and Wellness. 
 
The successful candidate for this 0.75 FTE position will possess strong clinical experience providing adult whole-person primary care to vulnerable populations including people experiencing homelessness and people living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. This position remains open for applicants until filled.

Job Duties

  • Provide direct clinical care to adult patients.
  • Educate and counsel patients on a broad scope of health care issues.  
  • Provide technical consultation to nursing staff and care team. 
  • Provide medical triage and patient care evaluation.  
  • Document all medical evaluation, diagnostic procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals, and consultations in a timely manner.  
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, change management, and continuous process improvement at the direction of the Lead Provider.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure effective patient workflow. 
  • Provide on-call coverage as part of Public Health’s Primary Care program (typical rotation 1:7).
  • Participate in Public Health at Navos team meetings and CHS provider meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the position's scope.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Minimum Qualification Required: 

  • Proof of Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers
  • Washington State Medical License must be obtained prior to hiring. 
  • National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained prior to hiring.  
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained prior to hiring. 
  • Physician waiver to prescribe buprenorphine under the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000) preferred, must be willing to obtain upon hiring. 
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program.  
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. 
  • Attachment of an up to date/current Curriculum Vitae to application submission 
  • Attachment of a letter of interest for the position to application submission 
 
 
Desired Qualifications: 
  • Experience providing trauma-informed care to vulnerable patients with histories of homelessness, behavioral health conditions, incarceration, and substance use.  
  • Experience providing patient-centered primary care
  • Demonstrated experience and interest working in multidisciplinary health care teams. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice and ability to foster a racially and culturally inclusive workplace
  • Experience with quality improvement including population health management.  
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate complex systems in health and social services.  
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.  
  • Strong clinical problem solving and triage skills.  
  • Ability to work flexibly and efficiently in health care settings. 
  • Experience providing medication treatment for opioid use disorder in low barrier outpatient setting. 
  • Experience providing gender-affirming care and PrEP.
  • Skills in primary care outpatient procedures including long-acting reversible contraception placement and removal, incision and drainage of abscesses, foot care, and skin biopsies.
 
 
WORK SCHEDULE: 
This 0.75 FTE position includes 24-30 direct clinical hours per week.  Typical work hours are Monday through Friday and may include one evening per week.  Hours may vary per operational needs.
