Job Summary | Undergraduates working for the UK Horse Pasture Evaluation Program will spend most days on commercial or hobby horse farms in central Kentucky collecting pasture samples and data, but every day is a bit different! Students will learn grass and weed ID, tall fescue sampling techniques, soil sampling and more. Between evaluation, we may be assisting with research plots, visiting partner farms, attending and assisting with educational events and more. 95% horse focused, but we occasionally mix in the beef cow, the organic dairy, even a yak farm. Relaxed environment, time off as needed, and plenty of opportunity to see and learn new things, internship credit available. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | This is a temporary position with Plant and Soil Sciences. The position will be under the supervision of a department faculty or staff member to perform lab or field research as directed by supervisor or Graduate Research Assistant. |
