Position Summary


Spectrum Health West Michigan Information Services is seeking a highly motivated, software application developer to join our Digital Engagement team. As a member of a cross-functional group, team members partner with key business and clinical stakeholders to deliver patient centric communication solutions to enhance the patient’s health journey. This role involves leveraging multiple communication mediums (SMS [text messaging], email, and voice) to share pertinent information and interact with our patients. A prospective candidate should be a motivated self-starter, have a problem-solving mindset, innovative, flexible, and always keep the patient’s best interests top of mind.

Our Digital Engagement team leverages the Scaled Agile SAFe Framework™ to drive our daily work. New feature work and maintenance responsibilities are shared across the team, along with a staggered on-call rotation.

This is a remote position. Working from home is the team’s primary work location. There may be occasions to meet in person at Spectrum Health locations or off-site venues. Those pre-planned events are often located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. Remote participation accommodations can also be provided as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Under minimal supervision, works independently with customers to analyze and compile business requirements for applications, and then research, plan, design, develop and implement customer-focused programming solutions that adhere to the development policies and standards, and align with the Information Services architectural design and customer’s business needs.
  • May also code, test and implement software enhancements and/or apply patches, as well as prepare the appropriate documentation to support a new system, or to record modifications that have been made to existing application programs.
  • Helps drive risk assessment by developing, implementing and evaluating system design strategies, specifications and models.
  • Provides process leadership for work groups, and assists in product/service delivery strategy and work plans.
  • Owns the resolution for product, implementation and/or functionality issues, and provides troubleshooting support.
  • Makes opportunities to expand skills by learning from those with more experience, and shares knowledge, by coaching less seasoned Applications Development Analysts.

Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree related field
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree related field
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience developing and supporting applications, and or system development lifecycle including coding, testing, and implementation Required

Technical Skills

  • 2 or more years of AWS hands on experience o r related certification(s): AWS areas of focus include but not limited to Lambdas, API Gateway, Serverless architecture, Fargate, Micro Services
  • 2 or more years Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Git/GitHub, Splunk experience
  • 2 or more years Development languages: .NET Core (C#), SQL, Python, HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, JavaScript-based frameworks (React)
  • 2 or more Testing Automation
  • 2 working in an Agile-based work environment (SAFe, Scrum, XP, etc.)
