Summary: 


Responsible for all operations of the Economic Opportunity Center within the Institute for H.O.P.E.TM to include physical space planning, community partnerships and tenant occupancy, community outreach specific to social determinants and internal and external education and training. The Economic Opportunity Center will serve as the primary hub for the Institute for H.O.P.E.TM and will be open to the public where community residents can come to learn, connect with community partner agencies and access more than 130 different MetroHealth resources focusing on social determinates of health. The incumbent will report to the Director of Transformative Education and Training and will work closely with the Director of Economic Development and Community Transformation with respect to the 72 affordable housing units within the same building. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer services standards of the MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:


1. Leads Institute for H.O.P.E.TM , Economic Opportunity Center initiatives to develop and oversee a comprehensive programmatic strategy and priorities for members of the community.

2. Designs and manages a portfolio of programs and projects at the Economic Opportunity Center that are based on the needs of the community. Demonstrates flexibility in tailoring programs based on results from community needs assessments.

3. Develops and oversees strategic relationships with community-based organizations that further the ability of the Economic Opportunity Center’s educational programing to make an impact on priority health-related social needs for our patients and within communities and populations of interest. Collaborates and negotiates among many community partners to establish the most appropriate array of services based on community needs.

4. Builds alignment with MetroHealth internal departments and programs that intersect with the programmatic work to include resource requests and re-alignments to best optimize staff, space and financial resources at the Economic Opportunity Center.

5. Identifies and implements strategies that have the potential to contribute to the field in meaningful ways, with opportunities to share experiences and results with local, regional and national audiences and contributing to publishable work.

6. Maintains strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction by delivering processes, tools, presentations, meetings, and other deliverables that meet or exceed expectations and requirements, and continually seeking ways to improve quality.

7. Manages profit and loss (P&L) for staff, including accurately forecasting costs and operating within established budget.

8. Writes and prepares routine and ad-hoc project-related grants, presentations and reports as required by stakeholders, with an emphasis on appealing to a senior executive level audience.

9. Recommends and participates in selecting outside sources, partners and stakeholders for needed services.

10. Ensures optimal operating efficiency and fiscal effectiveness of the Economic Opportunity Center by:
a. Developing short- and long-range plans that support the goals and objectives of The MetroHealth System.
b. Ensuring staff compliance with departmental goals, policies, procedures, and standards.
c. Evaluating departmental effectiveness; effecting changes required for improvement.
d. Building and managing a diverse team of professionals. Ensuring effective orientation, guidance, and fostering professional growth, autonomy, collaboration, and teamwork.

 

 

Qualifications:


Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Project Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Healthcare Management, or related discipline or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
Five or more years of relevant and progressive experience.
Demonstrated experience in grant writing and relationships with philanthropic organizations.
Advanced PC knowledge including proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Education, Project Management, Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Management, or related discipline.
Proficiency in Epic.
Experience as a social worker, community health worker, or work in a public-facing environment to include supervision.
Expertise in quality improvement processes such as CQI, TQM, Lean or Six Sigma.
Experience designing and establishing a training and education center like the Economic Opportunity Center.
Understanding of hospital business and clinical operations
Understanding of social determinants and training and education programs that promote improved well-being for patients, employees and community members.

Physical Demands:
Will need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
Will need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to read job related documents.
Dexterity to use computer.
