Summary: 


Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the designated clinical program. Coordinates the program planning and management, marketing, and public relations functions for the specified area. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer services standards of The MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:


Oversees, supports, and makes contributions to patient safety by:
a. Providing a safe environment for patients.
b. Identifying and correcting root causes of errors.
c. Implementing systems to prevent errors.
d. Subscribing to the principles of responsible reporting of adverse occurrences, near misses, and safety concerns.
e. Providing evidence-based care.

1. Ensures the effective and efficient daily operations of the designated clinical program by:
a. Interviewing, cross training, supervising, and evaluating assigned personnel.
b. Making recommendations regarding employment, performance appraisals, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
c. Resolving problems regarding equipment, communications, and support systems.
d. Assisting in developing and implementing operational systems.
e. Ensuring proper patient and physician flow and implementing improvements as necessary.
f. Compiling statistics and developing operational reports.
g. Overseeing the Quality Management, JCAHO, CAP, and research activities for medical, nursing, technical and administrative personnel; ensuring compliance.
h. Evaluating workload projections and ensuring work schedules that provide for optimal patient care.

2. Manages the revenue and expense budget by:
a. Preparing an annual operating and capital budget in collaboration with appropriate personnel.
b. Preparing monthly revenue/expense reports.
c. Ensuring a positive relationship between revenue and expenses; implementing expense reductions as necessary.
d. Monitoring reimbursement levels and reasons for changes in reimbursement, adjusts budget as necessary.
e. Coordinating and approving purchase requisitions, storeroom requests and clinical engineering maintenance.
f. Coordinating, evaluating, and recommending major equipment requests for approval; writing CONS where appropriate; maintaining current equipment inventory.
g. Preparing written financial analyses as required.
h. Reviewing and recommending Hospital charges for services; monitoring and correcting late charges.

3. Coordinates planning, implementation, and evaluation of program by:
a. Developing and revising business plans for services in conjunction with Strategic Planning and Marketing.
b. Performing cost and volume analysis and environmental assessments for existing and potential markets.
c. Conducting a periodic review of the progress toward business plan goals.
d. Chairing the Program Management Team/Council/Committee.
e. Maintaining information about new technologies and programmatic expansion opportunities; assisting in the application of these within budgetary limits.


4. Coordination and implementation of marketing and public relations efforts by:
a. Developing marketing plans for service in conjunction with Strategic Planning and Marketing Department.
b. Evaluating opportunities for development of contracts and pricing arrangements in conjunction with Commercial Development.
c. Seeking out opportunities to promote program in academic, professional, and geographic communities.

5. Promotion of customer and community service orientation by:
a. Identifying opportunities for community outreach, education, and screening.
b. Collaborating with communities and community organizations to respond to their needs for services, education, and information.
c. Continuously evaluating customer satisfaction and ensuring resolution of patient complaints.

6. Supports research and education efforts and opportunities for professional staff by:
a. Remaining informed of current researching in the program and field.
b. Facilitating grant development and processing as needed.
c. Working with professional staff to identify opportunities for continuing education.
d. Assisting in coordination and implementation of educational programs for in house and community professionals.

7. Facilitates relationships with the medical staff and the medical departments by:
a. Coordinating communications regarding program direction and initiatives.
b. Soliciting medical staff input for decision-making and program expansion.

8. Acts as a liaison with the various hospital departments and programs regarding shared initiatives.

9. Displays sensitivity to and understanding of various cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

 

 

Qualifications:


Required:
Bachelor's Degree in the related field (i.e., Nursing, Business, Health Administration, etc.) or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
Experience that encompasses program planning and analysis, financial management, and/or marketing experience along with the related work experience that applies to the specific field (i.e., clinical experience in Emergency and/or Critical Care).
Good interpersonal skills along with the experience in working with multi disciplinary groups.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred:
Two years management experience.
Experience with reimbursement/guidelines, computer-based management, and marketing techniques.
Master’s Degree in the related field (i.e., MSN, MPH, MBA, MHA).
Epic experience working with provider templates.

Physical Demands:
May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to read job related documents.
Ability to use computer.
