Job Summary: | Provide support to front desk staff with covering phones, filing and other tasks that may be required; Assist with new patient registration process and completing necessary forms; Schedule appointments for initial visit, on-treatment visits, follow up, special procedures, diagnostic studies and provide patient with necessary information; Telephone triage and respond to calls about changes in patient status, appointments, tests and requests for medication refills; answer phones, screen and route calls as necessary; Coordinate CT/SIM planning appointments and other radiology tests to include scheduling, insurance authorization, obtain results, and order copies of images; Assist with obtaining insurance authorizations for radiation treatment procedures; Assist physician with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments when appropriate; Interview new patients including medical history and recent history related to diagnosis; provide patient written and verbal teaching and information about diagnosis, radiation therapy, side effects and other pertinent information as directed by medical staff; Direct patients to exam rooms for scheduled appointments; Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties and other special needs; Assist physician and nurse in the preparation of examination and procedure areas; Assists nurse and physicians in patient examinations; Record vital patient data (temperature, blood pressure, weight); Processes medical orders as per policy and document in medical record; Provides patient with any necessary preparation information for exam, test or diagnostic study; Input and retrieve patient information in Epic as necessary. Minimum Qualifications: |
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant/Medical Office Assistant program or one year directly related experience, current CPR certification, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Knowledge of medical practice and medical terminology; previous clerical and computer experience and experience in an outpatient medical practice preferred. |
