South Fayette Township School District is seeking a Custodial Shift Manager.

Reports To: Facilities Director

Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalency
2. Minimum 5 years of job related supervisory experience
3. Ability to use e-mail and technology to respond to work requests.
4. Excellent people skills and demonstrated ability to work with the public
5. Excellent communication skills

Responds To: Administrators, Building Principals, Faculty and Staff
Manager of: Custodial Staff

Job Goal:
1. To manage the day-to-day operations of District custodial services.
2. To maintain the physical school facilities and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational and community use of them may be made at all times.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Carry a District provided cell phone
2. To assist with custodial duties as necessary, or on an as needed basis, to ensure the proper success of the custodial staff.
3. Manage the custodial operations and staff.
4. Maintain a clean, safe and attractive environment for the students, staff and public.
5. Be the point of contact for the public during the use of District facilities.
6. Schedule the appropriate staff to cover the additional activities in the District. This includes, but not limited to, substitutes, overtime for weekend activities that require more than the usual staff members. Insure guidelines are followed according to support union contract.
7. Review and approve all custodial staff time sheets for accuracy and correlate the overtime to related activities in the District. Maintain a record of overtime for staff.
8. Stay current with the latest trends, procedures, and processes in custodial services to insure the District facilities are being maintained in an appropriate and effective manner.
9. Evaluate new products and provide training and supervision for the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
10.Assure that the custodial staff properly maintains the District grounds and stadium. This includes, but is not limited to, having staff sweep, groom, and disinfect the turf field with the proper equipment. Training must be provided yearly.
11.Prepare the scoreboard, sound system and vendor tables for all home football games and other events at the stadium.
12.Have responsible for the coordination of all snow removal for weekends and evenings. This includes contacting the contracted snow removal company for campus roads and parking lots. Calling out the mechanics for sidewalks.
13.Establish and administer the schedules and procedures for the regular, ongoing custodial care of District wide facilities.
14.Annually review and revise (if necessary) the building areas and job routines for staff in preparation for the bid meeting. These changes should be reviewed with the building principles prior to implementation.
15.Conduct Custodial bid meeting every August and review any changes with staff.
16.Plan, oversee and supervise custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all facilities (Stadium, Administration, Pupil Personnel, Bus Garage, High School, Middle School, Intermediate School, Elementary School, and Campus grounds and fields).
17.Schedule meetings of the custodial staff, when it is deemed necessary, for purposes of training or morale.
18.Establish and supervise a summer cleaning calendar for the District. Insure summer cleaning does not interfere with summer events and is completed by the first day of school.
19.Work with the Facilities Director and Maintenance Manager to establish guidelines for the division of responsibility for minor in-school repairs and emergency repairs.
20.Inspects and evaluates work in each building daily, and more often if necessary, and discuss any issues or concerns the Principals may have regarding custodial work.
21.Enter Help desk forms into the system as provided by custodial staff. Assigns the work orders to the appropriate staff members on a timely basis.
22.Strives constantly to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees.

Requirements:

Sensory Abilities:
1. Visual acuity to be able to see when areas are clean and to read and follow directions, correspondence, etc.
2. Ability to detect the smell of foul and/or hazardous odors.
3. Depth perception to be able to judge distance from objects.
4. Ability to see/hear fire alarm signal and area of rescue assistance alarms.
5. Fine and Gross motor coordination.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
2. Ability to work on all size ladders.
3. Must have a valid Pa. Driver’s license and have the ability to drive all district vehicles, excluding school buses.
4. Ability to perform minor repairs.
5. Ability to read and write, including training manuals, documents, etc.
6. Ability to evaluate employee performance.
7. Ability to use technology, including, but not limited to e-mail, work order software, etc.
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month year.
Afternoon Shift (2:30-11 p.m.)
Occasional weekends to cover events/training Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
