Our Vascular Access Center is located in our Medical Office Suite providing diagnostic procedures in an outpatient setting. Working with a team of medical imaging staff, we provide scheduled procedures Monday – Friday. Our highly trained nurses provide comprehensive interdisciplinary care including moderate sedation, procedural assistance, and patient education from the time the patient arrives until time of departure.

What you will do:

  • Admission assessment and pre op preparation.
  • IV insertion and maintenance.
  • Monitor and assist with procedures, monitor and deliver moderate sedation, IV medications and contrast dye injections.
  • Point of care testing as directed.
  • Specimen preparation and reporting according to hospital policy.
  • Collaborative team approach, coordinate and direct care with vascular providers and medical imaging staff.
  • Educate patient and family regarding preparation, intra procedure and post procedure care.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in med surg, ICU or procedural nursing. GN’s or RN’s with < 1-year experience should apply to the Graduate Nurse positions.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR/ACLS certification.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
