WAICU, the official organization for Wisconsin’s 23 private, nonprofit colleges and universities, seeks a research and analysis professional. The Research Professional is responsible for a wide variety of data collections and analyses: (1) conducting and/or coordinating research, including managing comprehensive data systems (IPEDS and WAICU LDS); (2) analyzing data and preparing documents and reports for governmental and other agencies; (3) recommending policies and procedures for accountability and advocacy; (4) and advancing research and policy to support educational excellence and access with special focus on the state-wide coordination for private, nonprofit colleges.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree and familiarity with postsecondary education in Wisconsin, social sciences research and reporting, development and administration of databases, knowledge of MS Office products, and experience with computer programs related to data collection, analyses, and presentation. Less than full-time applicants would be considered.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Coordinate WAICU participation in the state-mandated Wisconsin Student Support Information System (WISSIS) through the Higher Educational Aids Board and coordinate with WAICU senior vice president for advocacy to promote the Wisconsin Grants program.
• Serve as the nonprofit sector state-level coordinator for the federally mandated Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System or IPEDS.
• Administer the federally mandated WAICU Longitudinal Data System (WAICU LDS) in coordination with the Wisconsin Longitudinal Data Systems (LDSs).
• Support the WAICU president in his leadership role in state-wide and national policy forums.
• Coordinate the provision of data from WAICU members to governmental agencies and other appropriate organizations.
• Recommend policies, procedures, and programs for the continuous improvement of WAICU research programs.
• Establish programs and monitoring standards for appropriately balancing accountability, privacy, and proprietary information.
• Enhance understanding of the nature, contributions, and impact of Wisconsin’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities.
• Conduct research and administer surveys in support of the Association’s public policy, advancement, marketing and communications, student access, and cost-saving programs.
• As a member of the WAICU Academic Services Team, review data and work with other staff to promote Association policy and to prepare relevant support documents.
• Assist WAICU members with their research requests/projects—in particular the WAICU Institutional Research Group, the Librarians, the Registrars, the Public Relations and Marketing Officers, and the Admissions Officers.
• Publish reports and other studies relative to WAICU and its members.
• Conduct ad hoc research on higher education topics identified by Association leadership.
• Prepare grant applications, reports, and studies to support WAICU members, WAICU Policy Systems, and the expansion of educational opportunity
