Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance Teacher

Questar III BOCES announces two (2) full-time probationary Teacher (10-month school schedule) vacancies for Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance Teachers.  Vacancies are located at our Rensselaer Education Center in Troy, NY and Durham Elementary site in Durham, NY.  These positions will co-teach with the current instructor.

The Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance program is designed to teach Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school students how to operate and maintain large, construction-related equipment including diagnosing and repairing common issues with diesel engines. Types of equipment may include backhoes, bulldozers, front end loaders, excavators, and forklifts. The teacher will meet the needs of diverse learners when providing both classroom and hands-on training. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess (or be willing to pursue) a NYS teaching certification through the Transitional Certification process in the CTE title of Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Including Heavy Equipment (High School Diploma and appropriate Occupational Work Experience will qualify a candidate for Transitional Certification)
