Working Foreman

Wage: $53.11/Hour

 

Canby Utility, a municipal electric and water utility nestled in the northern Willamette Valley, just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon, is looking to hire a Working Foreman to join our team.  Canby Utility has one electric crew that serves a population of approximately 17,000 with 7,400 electric meters.  Canby’s electric system is approximately 75-80% underground, has two substations, and is a full requirements customer of the Bonneville Power Administration.

 

This position directs and performs assigned work related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of the overhead and underground electric distribution system and related equipment.  This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, and safety sensitive position.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman. Must present a Journeyman Lineman card with documented completion of an accredited lineman program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Hot Stick training and experience
  • Knowledge of substations and protective systems
  • Proficiency in operating line equipment and tools used in construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power lines.
  • Ability to read and interpret system maps, work sketches, diagrams, and be able to efficiently use electronic equipment such as laptop computers and iPads.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands typical for the position, with or without accommodation.
  • Post-offer, pre-employment physical capacity screening by a licensed medical professional or physical therapist, pass a drug test, criminal background check, and acceptable driving history verified through Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Must have a valid Class A Commercial driver’s license with airbrake endorsement. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 safety rules and regulations
