Duties: Performs skilled work in the operation of and water and advanced wastewater treatment
plant, collection system; monitors & operates motors, pumps, meters & related equipment;
repairs & performs preventive maintenance on equipment; utilizes monitoring equipment &
records information shown; draws samples for laboratory analysis; monitors & adjusts flow
rates; may perform additional work as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting
with gas utility service, street repair, custodial work, painting & mowing. This position is subject
to an on-call rotation and is paid a premium for working outside of normal business hours.
Education: High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of wastewater and water treatment
operations preferred. Requirements include possession or ability to obtain State of Kansas
certifications; a Class 3 Wastewater Operator Certificate, a Class 1 Water Facility Operator
Certificate and Backflow and Cross Connection Certificate within two (2) years of hire.
Experience: Two (2) years mechanical & electrical equipment maintenance or related work
preferred.
Requirements: Must live within 30 minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas drivers
license; and possess a Class B CDL or have the ability to obtain one with six (6) months of hire.
A Class B CDL with tanker and standard endorsements is preferred.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; must be able to be on call.
Pay: $17.00-$24.00 hourly, depending on experience
