We are looking for experienced nurses to join our highly specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). We are devoted to flexible scheduling and work hard to balance and meet the needs of the unit and staff. We will consider full time, part time or per diem shifts.

Our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 20 bed, state of the art unit caring for patients after open heart and vascular surgery. Specialized training includes CORE EKG classes, balloon pump, ECMO, CRRT, VAD, Impella, Open Heart, Critical Event Management Training (CEMT), Ventilator/Respiratory class, PD. What you will do:

  • Therapeutic med/surge nursing interventions and hands on skills including class I telemetry, cardiac drips, post open heart care, respiratory/ventilation support and more.
  • Patient education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning.
  • Collaborative team approach: SNAP rounds daily. Vent rounds with interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide excellent care and practice per clinical services standards of care guidelines.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.
  • Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Registered Professional Nurse Licensure in the State of New York.
  • One-year Critical Care Experience required.
  • **Graduate Nurses or RN’s with less than 1 year of experience please apply to the GN residency postings.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
