First New York FCU is seeking a Mortgage Loan Underwriter for a busy lending department.  Position entails using good judgment and underwriting skills to evaluate loan applications for risk and approval or denial of loan.  Will exercise sound judgment to approve or deny consumer, home equity and conventional mortgage loans and use discretion to establish conditions for loan disbursement. 

Loan offers are considered in accordance with delegated approval authority and loan policy.  Will conduct credit analysis on loan applications.  Ensures that all regulatory disclosures are sent in a timely and compliant manner.  The ability to cross-sell and up-sell lending products to maximize member relationship is expected. 

A pending loan application queue will be maintained.  NMLS designation must be maintained.  Must possess at least 4+ years of previous lending experience in credit union/banking environment and 2+ years of conventional mortgage underwriting.  A strong commitment to providing excellent member service is expected. 

Must be familiar with automated underwriting systems.  Will be expected to maintain a proficient knowledge of all credit union products and services and industry trends.
