Examples of Duties

The Dean of Allied Health & Nursing will provide leadership, direction, and support to the college-wide Allied Health and Nursing departments. This position has internal responsibility for planning, budgeting, organizing, staffing, directing, and oversight of the Allied Health and Nursing faculty/staff and facilitating the learning experiences of students. This position has external responsibility for integration of the regulatory agency directives, accreditation standards, and the development of health industry partnerships. This will include providing leadership in developing and responding to workforce and economic development opportunities and developing partnerships and collaborations with business and industry, education, government, and the community such as designing all credit, noncredit and customized education/training to help business, non-profit and government organizations improve their performance and achieve strategic objectives.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)

  • Must hold a professional nursing license in the State of Minnesota.
  • Master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Possess broad experience in nursing administration and education within the health care industry.
  • Knowledge of two-year college goals, strategies, curriculum, system policies and regulations, college procedures, faculty contract stipulations and fiscal procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and set priorities, communicate clearly, conduct meetings, direct others and follow-up on tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform problem-solving, delegation and manage crisis situations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Skills in use of computer and technology; e.g. e-mail communication and word processing.
  • Availability of "on-call" status as requested by clinical internships.
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
  • Knowledge and skills related to state agency compliance in health care.
