Description of Work

NOTE:  Employees in these positions will work not more than twenty-four (24) hours per week. 
Under the supervision of the Circuit Court Administration, this employee provides operational support for the 14th Circuit Court Adult Recovery Court.  The Recovery Court Specialist performs a variety of tasks and is responsible for managing the docket, maintaining staffing reports, drafting correspondence, processing documents and invoices, and data entry and management.  Work is performed following standard internal operating procedures and in accordance with Michigan Court Rules and applicable federal confidentiality laws.

Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  1. Completion of a two (2) year secretarial program from an accredited college or university; OR
  2. Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Educational Development test (GED); AND have a minimum of three (3) years related experience in an office setting.

Physical Conditions / Work Location

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary or light physical work activities requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed in a normal office environment.  May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens while working with participants, and to other bodily fluids when administering drug and alcohol tests.

EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment.  An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test.  Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.  Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system.  For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications.  This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
