The Testing Center Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, providing standardized testing/placement to Adult Education program students at the High Point Campus and nearby locations, to include the Jamestown campus and off-site Adult Education classes in the High Point area. S/he is responsible for assessment, program placement, and providing counseling and advisement to students on and off campus. The Testing Center Coordinator will supervise and administer the High School Equivalency (HSE) tests, TABE and CASAS tests and other NRS-approved assessments in person and remotely according to National Reporting System (NRS) testing requirements. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Adult Education, this position serves a variety of functions including the setup and maintenance of courses for documenting testing hours for FTE purposes, assisting with course roster audit and processing; and maintaining confidentiality of student records through established procedures. This position analyzes, evaluates, and shares data related to student performance with Program Directors, Instructors, assessment staff, and other Adult Education staff on an ongoing basis.

Duties/Functions

• Schedule and announce NRS and HSE test sessions in collaboration with the Dean and Associate Dean of Adult Education and the Testing Center Coordinator on the Greensboro campus.

• Create an environment that is conductive to testing.

• Assess potential students by administering the proper NRS placement and progress tests.

• Score and interpret NRS test scores in a timely manner.

• Counsel, advise, and place students into appropriate classes according to assessment indicators.

• Assist in a collaborative plan with Adult Education Program Directors and other staff to implement student registration and post-testing processes.

• Monitor student progress per standardized testing in cooperation with the Director of Program Performance and Accountability.

• Serve as Chief HSE Administrator/Examiner for the High Point campus. Maintain certification to administer NRS and HSE tests and administer tests per NCCCS College and Career Readiness Assessment Manual.

• Supervise and train part-time assessment staff.

• Score, record, file, interpret, and be knowledgeable of all testing instruments.

• Inventory and check condition of tests at the beginning and end of each testing session.

• Maintain security of testing materials.

• Prepare, maintain, and keep current all student records and files.

• Communicate as needed with HSE and NRS test vendors.

• Review and evaluate the accuracy and appropriateness of student testing data, and report discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate Director or Associate Dean.

• Set up testing courses for student registration, monitor and enter web attendance data for student assessments.

• Complete reports requested by outside agencies, the North Carolina Community College System Office, and other college offices.

• Make recommendations to Associate Dean, Dean of Adult Education, and Director of Program Accountability regarding policies and procedures related to Adult Education assessments.

• Implement effective oral communications skills, data collection, and analysis skills with instructors and staff in order to meet deadlines, ensure accuracy of assessments, and maximize program performance and retention.

• Inform supervisor of additional equipment and/or supply needs.

• Participate in planning unit and budgetary funding processes; prepare supporting documents and forms as prescribed.

• Ensure that all testing material purchase order requests are prepared and processed in accordance with the Adult Education Department and community college guidelines.

• Greet general public in role as manager of student testing.

• Respond to inquiries from the general public received via written and electronic communications.

• Possess knowledge of institutional offerings and provide appropriate information.

• Assist and give advisement to students in all program areas.

• Assist with student recruitment and retention efforts.

• Promote the philosophy of the college in all community activities and contacts.

• Attend appropriate staff and faculty meetings. Participate in college committees as assigned.

• Promote the overall mission and goals of the Adult Education Program and GTCC.

• Assist with annual Adult Education graduation planning and ceremony.

• Attend and participate in appropriate local and state workshops and conferences to enhance job performance and pursue professional skills enhancement courses.

• Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Education or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.

Education Preferred

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution

Experience Required

• Three years of related experience, including evidence of experience in the following areas:
• Thorough knowledge of best practices and procedures in standardized testing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience developing spreadsheets, developing presentations, and using database software applications
• Experience reviewing data and assessments according to programs and policies
• Experience analyzing, compiling, and reporting data analyses related to student performance and/or retention.
• Recent experience with an enterprise student information system (e.g., Colleague)

Experience Preferred

• More than three years of related assessment experience
• Experience in an academic setting
• Literacy Education Information System (LEIS) Adult Education data entry and/or analysis experience
• Experience reviewing data according to Community College and/or Adult Education programs and policies
• Experience working with National Reporting System (NRS) Testing, High School Equivalency Testing, and Adult Education Performance Measures

KSA Required

• Strong analytical skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Must have a typing speed of at least 50 wpm.
• Exhibited skills in communication, interpersonal relations, records management, and office procedures are essential.
• Ability to organize/prioritize work schedule to accommodate meeting deadlines.
• Ability to use the NCCCS College and Career Readiness (CCR) Assessment Manual

KSA Preferred

• Experience with NRS Requirements and Adult Education performance measures
• Ability to use Datatel Colleague LEIS screens
• Ability to use Web Attendance
• Knowledge of Title II Adult Education program policies, procedures and reporting rules

• Must possess a pleasing telephone manner, be diplomatic, and tactful in dealing with people.

• Must have ability to use own judgment in decision-making situations.
• Must have good organizational and planning skills.
• Must be able to work days, Monday – Friday, and at least one evening per week.
• Travel outside the area may be required to attend organizational and developmental activities.
