Position Description:  

The Faculty member will be responsible for teaching, advising and outreach to the communities served by MCC.  Instructional content assignment will focus on teaching the Spanish language. Faculty member is responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course. Our new faculty member will be dynamic, creative and committed to teaching excellenceand have a passion for continuous improvement and assessment of student learning.  The use of a variety of instructional delivery methods (i.e. LMS, Webex, Zoom, etc.) will be required. The faculty member may also work with part-time instructors throughout the College's service area to provide mentoring activities and help with the implementation of assessment strategies. This position requires regular substantial travel to all areas of our service region to provide instruction where needed. Teaching assignments may include travel to area high schools to offer college courses to concurrent enrollment students.  The faculty member may be asked to teach one course in the summer semester.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Master's degree in Spanish or Spanish Linguistics.  A Master's degree in a related educational field with 18 graduate credits of course work in the discipline may substitute. 
  • A minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent teaching experience or relevant work experience. 
  • Strong technology skills and experience in using the Microsoft Office suite, as well as ability to deliver instruction via distance technologies. 
  • Demonstrated success in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the service region to deliver instruction where needed.

Preferred Qualifications:             

  • Additional years of full- or part-time teaching experience in a community college.
  • Coursework, training, and/or experience in teaching the following courses: Spanish. 
  • Experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes such as online and hybrid.        

Anticipated Start Date:  August 14, 2017

Salary:  Competitive, based on education, skills and experience.  Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies.  No relocation assistance is provided.
