The South Plains Association of Governments, a local government services organization serving the 15-county region surrounding Lubbock, is seeking an interested professional with governmental accounting experience to join the accounting team as a Staff Accountant. This position will function under the Accounting department. Accounting duties include maintaining accurate accounting and financial records, preparing account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing. The minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business and /or finance, or a related field and two years of experience in accounting. Job experience and education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. The job requires exercising independent judgement, organization skills, accessing sensitive information, research abilities, and attention to details and procedures. Applicants must have a valid Texas driver’s license and the ability to conduct some in-region travel. The starting salary range for this position is based on experience and conformity to the job description and will include a comprehensive benefits package. The Monthly Salary range is $2,595 - $4,094. Consideration will be given to candidates with specific, relevant experience.
