Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Description:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for: prevention of athletic injury & illness; injury evaluation, assessment and management; rehabilitation of athletic injury and supervision of athletic training students. The position will work directly with student athletes, but will also supervise the athletic training students covering various other sports and any additional coverage needs as determined by the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. This position will also be responsible for assisting in policy and procedure development and the education and counseling of student athletes and coaches.

Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:

Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association
A minimum of a Master’s Degree is required
CPR certification
Must be eligible for an Ohio Athletic Training license

Communication and other skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Flexibility in work hours/days
Ability to function as a member of a sports medicine team
Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior

Working Conditions:
The position of assistant athletic trainer will require the individual to adapt to the environment of the related sport (inside, outside, various settings, etc). The normal work day and times will vary depending on the coverage needs of the student athlete.
