PRN

  • Enter and validate medical, demographic, insurance, financial, and business data in a timely and courteous manner in appropriate systems to ensure master patient index integrity and creation of an accurate appointment or encounter and claim.
  • Explain pre-appointment clinical preparation requirements such as fasting and fluid consumption.
  • Provide patient education about third party coverage and liabilities, communicate possible payment options and personally connect patients to a financial counselor if needed.
  • Collect, post, and balance co-pays, deductibles and other patient payments.
  • Identify and communicate the need for interpreter services and handle a wide variety of patient inquiries regarding physicians, services and logistics to ensure access to care with maximum throughput and minimal delay.
  • Maintains expertise in PAS legal and compliance requirements, incorporates principles into workflows.
  • Recruits and trains patients to access My UH Care Personal Health Record, Ensures achievement of productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of computer systems, insurance and government regulations and UH PAS policies and procedures used within the department.
  • Promotes collaboration and call center success.
  • Functions as an integrated team member and works collaboratively with other staff and providers across the system to improve patient experience and department efficiency.
  • Actively participates in UH emergency preparedness.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Will be cross trained to perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be scheduled to work at offsite.

  • High School Equivalent / GED
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Degree or progress towards degree preferred (not required)
  • A bachelor's degree will be accepted in lieu of 1 year of work experience.
