SUMMARY

The Subscription Services Division (SSD) of EBSCO Information Services (EIS), located in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Vice President of Sales to lead our efforts in both the United States and Canada.  This position is responsible for the direction and management of all sales and business development operations for the U.S. & Canada Subscription Service Division product line including market competitiveness, pricing, compensation, distribution, and channel strategy. The Vice President will drive the achievement of customer acquisition and revenue goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, coach, mentor, manage and lead a team of sales professionals across U.S. and Canada to achieve annual sales targets
  • Create, execute, and maintain a consistent and effective sales strategy
  • Assist sales team with new sales opportunities across the region
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in general product strategy discussions and act as sales lead on go-to-market plans
  • In collaboration with sales, finance, and operational teams, define and establish sales projections.
  • Act as central point of contact for U.S. & Canada sales team regarding pricing while working in conjunction with the SVP of Operations & Finance.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance teams to build forecasts, annual budgets and 5-Year financial plans.
  • Maximize customer retention and new sales by personally visiting high value accounts in U.S. & Canada in support of Regional Sales Managers across the territory.
  • Work with marketing to review marketing materials and proposed campaigns as well as RFP responses.
  • Initiate and manage outreach to Sales Vice Presidents within other EIS divisions to make connections at customer and prospect libraries.
  • Manage Regional Sales Manager activity to ensure that sales teams are achieving expectations for customer visits and/or customer contact and data entry captured in EBSCO’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Attend designated conferences, meetings, trade shows or other events as assigned or needed to perpetuate sales.
  • Present at Advisory Boards, Conferences, User Groups, etc. as a representative of the division.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% across U.S. and Canada
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum or 7 years’ sales experience in comparable industries, with 4+ years in a management position

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • A background in library, information, or subscription services sales with actual sales experience in the assigned territory
  • Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
  • Established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create results driven, team-oriented environment
  • Capacity to assume more significant executive responsibilities over time
