Instructor/Theatre Director
Commercial Music, Visual, and Performing Arts

Seeking a dynamic theatre instructor to serve as a faculty member and our Director of Theatre for the Commercial Music, Visual and Performing Arts Department (CMVPA). This position enjoys a three course (9 credit hour) teaching load which reflects a two course (6 credit hour) release, per long semester. Responsibilities include overseeing the College’s theatre classes and theatrical productions; recruiting high school and college students interested in performing in theatrical productions and/or majoring in theater; teaching assigned courses face-to-face, online and in hybrid formats, advising students academically, and serving on Departmental/ College level committees. Master’s degree in Fine Art or Doctorate degree in Theatre required. Experience teaching at the college level preferred. Courses in the college’s theatre program include: Theatre Practicum I, II, III, IV, Stagecraft I, Acting I, II, III, Voice for the Actor, Theatre Appreciation, and History of Theatre I. Demonstrated experience serving as Director of Theatre at an institution of higher education. The ability to design and build sets, and design and focus stage lights. Experience directing musical theatre productions in collaboration with musical directors and choreographers. Position is security sensitive and subject to Texas education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
