Summary: 

Summary:
Develops and executes contracting strategies to achieve financial targets which include performing clinical planning and implementation activities. Negotiates contracts on behalf of MHS within assigned area(s). Manages complex administrative, legal, operational, and financial issues related to contract negotiation. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer services standards of The MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:

1. Contributes to patient safety by supporting the System-wide programs and policies addressing a safe environment for patients and the reporting of safety concerns to the appropriate individuals.

2. Assesses category spend and creates sourcing strategies that will maximize outcomes for MetroHealth.

3. Maintains compliance with public bid requirements and MHS’s Purchasing policies and procedures.

4. Prepares, coordinates, and manages contract negotiation process.

5. Identifies all legal risks within contract provisions in collaboration with legal team.

6. Creates appropriate legal and business contract language in collaboration with legal team.

7. Schedules and coordinates legal review process.

8. Develops a process to identify category spend opportunities and develops action plans targeting specific areas for development.

9. Performs product standardization and clinical quality value analysis.

10. Manages contract lifecycle and performance between MetroHealth and supplier to ensure compliance with business unit owners.

11. Completes Request for Proposals (RFP) as required and appropriate follow-up communication to meet desired outcomes.

12. Conducts meetings with assigned business unit leaders and effectively resolves and communicates complex issues.

13. Establishes financial savings goals by category and meets or exceeds annual goals.

14. Monitoring pricing compliance with established annual contracts in ERP system.

Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or other related field
2-3 years of experience working with clinical staff that includes creating business/operational efficiencies, improving productivity, and driving financial performance.
Core strength and experience in building contract terms and conditions, including business and service level agreements in collaboration with legal counsel
Knowledgeable in supply chain concepts, such as the functions of suppliers, distributors, and GPOs, as well as inventory management procedures.
Competent in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiar with MMIS and ERP systems.
Ability to work independently and in a team-based work environment
Ability to balance multiple projects and appropriately prioritize tasks.
Exhibits enhanced problem-solving skills and is detailed oriented.
Proven communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
Strong collaboration and partnering skills
Independent and enriched analytical skills to persuade business unit partners to drive expedient and effective results.
Ability to grasp new concepts and establish credibility efficiently while building long term relationships with business unit partners

Preferred:
Master’s Degree.
Experience in a healthcare and/or government/public purchasing environment.

Physical Demands:
May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
