Description of Work

***NOTE:  THIS IS A CONTRACTED POSITION.  The pay is $12,000 a year.  This is paid Monthly in $1000 installments.  Included in the contract is the use of the house as a private residence, provided the Caretaker pays for all utilities.  The County Parks does pay for use of the Utilities since the Office is Located in the Caretaker House.  The County pays $1200 Electrical and $1500 Propane payments are bi-annual in two installments of $1350. Caretaker shall have the right to all concessions and the profit from the concessions conducted upon the premises.  Other details and requirements are specified in the Caretaker Agreement.

Manager shall be responsible for supervising the public use of the park and performing a variety of maintenance, supervisory and public relations activities within the park.   The purpose is to provide the public with adequate, functional services and facilities in a safe environment to promote public enjoyment of outdoor leisure activities.

Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  1. Have a two year degree from an accredited college or university, with an emphasis on  Parks and Recreation desired.
  2. Have a minimum of two years experience in operation, maintenance and management of a campground or public park.
  3. Required to reside in the residence provided by the Muskegon County Parks and maintain the residence in an acceptable and operational condition as per the Management Agreement.
  4. Be present daily during the busy season, May through September, to supervise the park and the public and to perform required functions.
  5. Possess good verbal and written communications skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Physical Conditions / Work Location

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 
Manager must work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions at any time of the year.
 
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 
Manager must be in good physical condition to participate in extensive walking, climbing, pulling or moving of objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more and all other physical labor required in the performance of assigned duties.

Hourly, seasonal and temporary employees are not eligible for County benefits.
