Junior Project Manager – Estimator

 
Position Summary

 

 

 

 

This role provides estimating and project coordination in our manufacturing environment. Coordinating projects as they flow from quotes to purchase order to completion is a critical role in ensuring we provide operational excellence and client value.

 
Reports to

 
Senior Manager Projects
 

Communicates With, Key relationships

 
Production, Quality Assurance, Sales, Drafting, Finance teams

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities/Attributes Required

 
·         Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Business Degree preferred; Other post-secondary education along with experience will be considered

·         1-3 years’ experience estimating and managing projects preferably in manufacturing environment

·         Excellent computer skills: MS Office suite, specifically Excel, ability to learn new software/technology/applications quickly and independently

·         Ability to read blueprints, specifications

·         Client centered with excellent customer service skills

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and focus in a dynamic environment

·         Ability to problem solve and get things done – accurately and on time

·         Demonstrates basic sales ability as you represent the organization

·         Exceptionally organized

·         Embraces change and continuous improvement

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
 

 
·   Job estimating, prepare estimates for material, labour and equipment costs based on job plan specifications  

·         Interpreting plans and specifications to make the necessary calculations for pricing of tenders

·         Coordinating projects and schedules from purchase order to shipment

·         Customer reporting

·         Identify potential conflicts between project documents

·         Collaborating with Engineering, production and other team members across organization to ensure projects are managed to client specifications, schedule and quality

·         Build and maintain long term relationships with customers providing excellent service and value  

·         Preparation of job execution packages for production

·         Maintain files and working documents, contract administration

·         Management of documentation for Engineering and Quality for delivery to customers

·         Develop and maintain job reporting metrics

·         Entry level engineering involvement in job planning

·         Other projects or tasks as required
