UW Information Technology is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW.  Information Management within UW-IT, provides University-wide leadership in the development and management of UW’s major administrative business systems, including Finance, Human Resources/Payroll, Advancement and Facilities. This division is also responsible for the UW Enterprise Data Warehouse and business intelligence tools that provide information for decision making, as well as enterprise document management for the campus.

UW-IT has an outstanding opportunity for the Director for Strategy and Engagement.

The Director for Strategy and Engagement reports to the Associate Vice President for Information Management (IM) in UW-IT and will lead the strategy around engagement inside and outside of the organization, business relationship management, portfolio management, service management, communications and marketing. Strategy and Engagement is a new group within IM and the Director is tasked with creating the team and its mission in alignment with the values and priorities of the larger organization. The director also supports the Associate Vice President in the overall coordination of IM in close collaboration with the other directors and is a member of the organization’s leadership team.

The Director will provide the leadership, management and change management expertise required to advance a culture of data-driven decision-making at UW. The Director leads a team of senior business and technology professionals in managing IM’s complex portfolio and defining a sustainable strategy for engaging with the campus, including on major business transformation projects. The director works closely with other groups within UW-IT and with the University’s departmental IT organizations. The director represents UW’s strategic interests and investments in data inside and outside of the University of Washington.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively more experience in:

  • Management experience in large, diverse information technology environments

  • Business acumen to effectively match enterprise opportunities to business needs

  • Organizational skills, a collaborative approach to leadership and ability to build strong teams

  • Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Work in open office environment.
