Position Purpose
Leads and oversees all aspects of undergraduate career services, shaping a comprehensive approach to prepare students for diverse career paths. Closely collaborates with stakeholders across the campus and externally, including students, faculty, alumni, employers, and others, to develop innovative programming and initiatives. Drives the expansion and enhancement of services to accommodate the growing needs of the student body and the job market.

As the inaugural Executive Director of the innovative Center for Career Design (CCD), you will pioneer a transformative approach, reimagining career services through design thinking principles. Collaborating across the institution, you’ll harness Dartmouth’s distinctive qualities—liberal arts education, dedicated faculty, and vast alumni network—to create dynamic opportunities for student success. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelor's degree
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in educational and/or career and life-design; and/or executive leadership with mission-oriented public service experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading career services or equivalent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in building programs of impact.
  • Leading cultures of change in outcome-based environments.
  • Proven track record of using design-thinking models to develop innovations and implement successful institutional and cultural change.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and new entrants to the workforce.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals.

Strategic Planning and Implementation
  • Develops and executes multi-year visions and plans for undergraduate career services, engaging stakeholders to identify opportunities, challenges, and priorities.
  • Sets strategic direction for career services initiatives, resources, and engagement efforts.
  • Utilizes data analytics and hiring trends to evaluate progress and adjusts plans and priorities as needed.
  • Engages in a high-impact communications strategy, speaking regularly with stakeholders on and off campus and regularly promoting Dartmouth’s students and the work of DCCD.

  • Develops and implements programs for career exploration, internship/job search preparation, and job offer negotiation.
  • Strengthens pivotal relationships with recruiters and managers from employers in order to enhance internship and job opportunities.

  • Provides ideas, input, and support for initiatives, decisions, and events related to student career development.
  • Collaborates and engages with other departments, offices, and external entities to lead, manage, and complete cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Recruits and regularly activates a group of alumni advisors to receive counsel, provide employer perspectives, and help energize the greater Dartmouth community around the DCCD.
