DIRECTOR OF WATER PRODUCTION

Central Arkansas Water (CAW), an award-winning water utility serving Little Rock-North Little Rock and surrounding areas, has an exciting opportunity for a skilled, innovative leader to serve as Director of Water Production for the Utility.

Job Summary

- Plans and directs the operations of the Water Production Department
- Oversees pumping, treatment, and other work activities with and through supervisory staff

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Water or Environmental Resource Management or related field i.e., Physics; Civil, Chemical, Environmental or Agricultural Engineering; Environmental Health Science with college courses in chemistry & algebra; or Natural Science such as Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry
- Plus 10 years of work experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience, in two or more of the following areas: water production or wastewater treatment, water distribution or wastewater collection, and water quality sampling & analysis
- Experience with treatment plant & water quality optimization; mentoring, developing and leading a workforce; public speaking; and applying technical information to operations
- Must have knowledge of rules & regulations pertaining to public drinking water systems; Safe Drinking Water Act; water plant operations; the storage, transmission & distribution of water; water quality testing; hydrology/hydraulics; operation of pumps, motors (300 HP & up), valves & generators; SCADA; organic & inorganic chemistry; utility water rights & raw water sources
- Must have excellent communication skills & be able to deal with politically sensitive issues
- Must obtain the Arkansas Grade IV Treatment & Distribution Water Licenses within required timeframes; have a valid Arkansas Drivers License with a good driving record; maintain a personal telephone due to subject to call out & live or relocate to within a 20 mile radius of the Jack H. Wilson Water Plant
- Prefer Master's Degree in Natural Science, Engineering or relevant area, and/or experience developing and conducting research projects or technical studies related to water quality
