Essential Functions:

* Performs high quality/cost effective diagnostic procedures under the supervision of a Registered Cardiac or Vascular Sonographer
* Assists Physicians and medical staff during procedures as requested/required
* Provides excellent customer service in an accurate and efficient manner
* Communicate effectively with patients, family members, Physicians, other medical staff and NMMC staff members
* Attends required in-services, annual review and educational programs
* Knowledgeable of procedures, positions, supplies, and equipment used in Echocardiography examinations
* Stay abreast of changes in Echocardiography
* Pursues ongoing continuing education specific to Echocardiography
* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
* Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
* All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* High School Diploma or equivalent; required
* Successful completion of at least 3 semesters of didactic and clinical competency requirements from an accredited Cardiac or Vascular Ultrasound program OR in final semester or have successfully completed an Allied Health program; required
* Employment as an Echo Sonographer Intern should not extend beyond a 12 month period.
* Must maintain good standing in the school of ultrasound or Allied Health program where enrolled.
* Registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 60 days of accredited ultrasound program (CAAHEP) completion OR if candidate is an Allied Health graduate he/she should be registry eligible at the completion of 12 months echocardiography experience; required
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; required
* Good written and verbal communication; required
* Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics; required
* Serves patient population categories of infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
