This position will perform diagnostic repair and preventive maintenance on diesel and gasoline powered vehicles. Duties will include transmission repairs, air system repairs, hydraulic system repairs, brake system repairs, wheelchair lift and ramp repairs, tune-ups, front-end alignments, state inspections and complex air conditioning work.

Qualified applicants must be able to use a tire changer, tire balancer, front-end alignment equipment, Freon recovery equipment, cutting and welding equipment, diagnostic readers and PC based diagnostic equipment. The ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds is required. Qualified applicants must possess the ability to read and comprehend complex wiring diagrams, technical manuals and specifications and use a computer for work orders and repair descriptions. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with three years of experience as a diesel and automotive mechanic. A Virginia driver’s license with an excellent driving record is also required. The ability to obtain each of the following is required: a Virginia Safety Inspector's License, a Refrigerant Certification for Types I and II Section 608 within one year of employment and a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment. A pre-employment drug screening will be required of the selected applicant. This position will follow the CDL drug testing guidelines during the employment period. A satisfactory post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant.

Hours of work will be from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. This position will serve as on call on a rotational basis.

Starting salary range is $33,961/year - $42,451/year, depending upon qualifications.
